If I haven’t said it enough, I’ll say it again; France, and its cat cafes are first-rate! The Neighbor’s Cat visited ten French cat cafes in November, 2017 and is considered the highlight of my cat travels. You see, in France, they don’t just settle for a few cute kitties and a cup of coffee, […]

Louis Catorze et la Cape d’Invisibilité

jesuisleroisoleil

*Today’s entry of Le Blog would be greatly enhanced by listening to the Harry Potter theme music whilst reading*

After the recent altercation with the zombie fox, you’d be forgiven for thinking Louis Catorze had been put off going out at The Front. Mais non. He is now obsessed with it and, even if he is outside at The Back, he can hear the front door being opened and he hurtles in, screaming, to try and break out.

And his Cloak of Invisibility appears to be growing in power as the Season of the Black Cat progresses, because he is managing to slip out unnoticed more than ever before. Last Tuesday night we found him outside on the window sill when we came home from the football, happily watching all the football fans make their way home, and on Thursday I came home from work to find a random…

Hang on Paris & New York, here is the real Cat Walk…

“It is a very distinct tribute to be chosen as the friend and confidant of a cat”.             – H.P. Lovecraft

“Time spent with cats is never wasted”. – Sigmund Freud

We are three lively, affectionate and healthy boys. Our ages are seven months, five months and one year.  We do love attention but are always happy to lap-sit, read alone, movie cuddles and can be excellent chefs, just let us into the kitchen…

We currently reside at Refuge de Port-la- Nouvelle on the Mediterranean in the south of France. The humans who feed and care for us here are most kind, but we are really in search of a home of our own. We are gorgeous and compliment any decor. After all, what is a house without a cat? It is a home without a soul…

Even the youngest of us are proficient in the art of Feline Focus Training and Therapy (F.F.T.T.) and are more than willing to impart our wisdom and make your house a real home. The names we were given at the refuge are negotiable.

20180914_143624

Yes, we are French Felines but like any self-respecting cat, we are sufficiently fluent and able to communicate in any language. We have much to offer the right human or humans and play well with other felines.

For further information, please contact the resident humans here at la SPA, Refuge de Port-la-Nouvelle, portlanouvelle@la-spa.fr or come for a visit, we are irresistible.   Wherever you are, support your local refuge. We have family everywhere. While you are at it, stop by the refuge and see who is waiting for you.

We want to thank Colette, Simone and the human for stopping by to visit and for posting us on their blog. https://lesdeuxdivasmavieenrose.wordpress.com

Fabulous Felines in History # 4: Les hommes de Sidonie Gabrielle Colette

“You will do foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm.”  – Colette

“I went to collect the few personal things which… I consider to be invaluable: my cat, my resolve to travel and my solitude.” – Colette

As one might guess, with a name like Cheri, we are the feline masters of Madame Sidonie Gabrielle Colette. She has served as a loyal human and a dear friend to felines the world over. Most of her many devoted fans refer to her simply as Colette.  While we are woven into some of her writing, we often appear disguised with a different name.

“Our perfect companions never have fewer than four feet.” – Colette

As one wanders and wonders though the pages of her books, you cannot help but notice our influence as our paw prints are everywhere. Our antics were a constant source of inspiration and laughter.

“There are no ordinary cats.”  – Colette

Fabulous Felines in History # 3: Up, up and away…

DSC03156

This young swinger is here to pay tribute to his late master. Antoine de Saint-Exupèry, one of France’s most well loved authors.  He is loved and best known for the slim book, Le Petit Prince, The Little Prince.  Born 29 June, 1900 he was an aviator during WWII and his plane shot down over The Mediterranean Sea in 1944.

My name is petit renard or little fox. Perhaps my mischevious tendencies contributed in some way toward the way I was portrayed in the book? Actually, I inspired my human and gave him unconditional support throughout the process.Which is one of the many reasons, we felines, are so fabulous and have contributed so much throughout history.

“One only understands the things one tames,” said the fox. Men have no more time to understand anything. They buy things already made at the shops.

Mon dieu, you’ve caught me in my library chair. I’m just about to curl up with a good book.

Bisous, Petit Renard, Colette et Simone, oh yes, and the human…

If any of you, or your human, have photos you would be willing to share for future Fabulous Felines in History, please forward them to us. Include your blog site or email address so we can give credit for the photo. Obviously, feline names are not necessary as they will be given names conducive to their story. Send your photos to feuetglace11@gmail.com

Le chat Felix

If you find yourself wandering about les Corbières near the Mediterranean, perhaps you will be welcomed to my village by our un-official greeter? Meet Felix. He is such a love and greets anyone who stops long enough to give him a pet or a scratch.

20171005_092743.jpg

For someone sitting on the bench waiting for something or just relaxing, Felix will be happy to busy your hands albeit briefly. Oh, the times the human has wished to take him home… but have no doubt that his family would be devastated and much of the village would miss him… Besides, we divas here would not be amused in the least. I mean, seriously, what use have two divas with one more to share the food and more importantly the lap.

 20171005_093326.jpg

Now you see why we worry when our human is away. We never know who she will bring home with her? And we do know she has been tempted. But who can blame her with such a feline?

20171005_093322.jpg

Felix has the sense to stay off the road when it is busy and often keeps his patrol walking back and forth in front of his home and paying his respects to those waiting nearby. He is very generous with his cuddles but please don’t attempt to pick him up and he won’t need to scratch you.

From our village to your home enjoy the sunshine and feel the love around you.

Au revoir, Colette, Simone and the human
